Once our content is embedded in your site, there are a number of ways to get the very best out of your investment. Placing content online where everyone can see it is step one; leveraging the content as much as you can is step two.
Here are a number of ways that our existing clients get the maximum benefit from our content:
Home page features
Each week, highlight a specific piece of content that is topical on your home page. It drives users to all the content. Create a separate button or navigation icon with ‘free online training’ or ‘small business resources’ to encourage traffic. Don’t hide the content in an obscure section on your site.
E-newsletter
Use the content (either all of it, or copy and paste parts of it) in e-newsletters. Depending on what content you licence, you may never need to write another piece of copy for your e-newsletter ever again.
Advisory services
If you have staff who advise small business owners then use the content when sitting alongside them in your advisory role, or email them links to content they can read or use before they meet you. Going through an online lesson together makes planning these sessions easy. Online training can count towards ‘contact hours’ if you need to reach a certain number of small business owners each month.
A reason to make contact
Sending new or existing clients small business content can help you position your business as more small-business friendly, or provide you with a vehicle to get in contact - either to stay top of your customers’ minds, or as an opener for offering additional services.
Use for staff training
Any staff who deal with small businesses as clients (such as bank managers, advisory staff, and accountants) need to remain up to date. Encourage staff to access the content or complete the training.
Use for student training
If you have students studying small business or entrepreneurship, open up the content to help them build their business plans or complete their assessments.
Offer as a giveaway
If you need to offer something to encourage traffic or get people to contact you, offering free content is ideal as there is no variable cost.
Create a database
If you want people to register online, you can offer to send people parts of our content (e.g., free business plan template) in exchange for their contact details, so you can follow up.
Support membership fees
You can place the content ‘behind the door’ which means people must log in to the membership or client area of your website (if you have one). Then you can promote these additional benefits of membership.
Build your own small business portal
Offer rich, interactive business content without needing to develop your own platforms, software or even write any content. Something that could take months can be up and running in weeks.
